Community Programming

BCAC’s Community Programs department offers a variety of programs designed to provide low-income families and individuals with services that promote self-sufficiency.  After the clients immediate or emergency needs have been met, Community Programs provides further assistance through advocacy, case management, information, and referrals.  Staff works closely with state agencies, other local service providers, and the business community to stay current with the latest information, services, and resources available to help move low-income people out of poverty. 

 

  Asset Development

BCAC offers programs such as Financial Literacy Training, free Income Tax preparation services (VITA),  low interest car loan/assurance program for qualified individuals.  All of these programs are designed to assist consumers in building assets.

  Emergency Services

The Emergency Assistance and Referral program assists families who are facing a crisis situation.  Emergency Services helps families and individuals get through an immediate, short term crisis for which all other resources have been exhausted.

  Food Depot

BCAC is partnered with the Western Mass Food Bank in providing a system of food pantry distribution.

  Medical Reassurance

The Medical Reassurance Program serves as an additional social contact for many in the elder population.  The program helps decrease the isolation that too often comes with disability or advancing age, and it enhances the quality of life for Berkshire County seniors.  The Ralph Froio Senior Center in Pittsfield, MA will assist families and caregiviers in need of this service.  Contact Jeannie Alexander at (413) 499-9346 for information.
