TITLE:  Energy Conservation Dept. Advisor/Installer

PROGRAM:  Energy Conservation

WORKSITE:  Berkshire County Homes & 1531 East St., Pittsfield, MA

SUPERVISOR:  Energy Director

HOURS:  Part Time – Piecemeal Work

CLASSIFICATION:  Grade 2; Non-Exempt

 

GENERAL SUMMARY

Delivers utility funded energy conservation programs to eligible Berkshire County Residents.  This position involves installing utility approved energy conservation materials in customer’s homes and advising customers on how to control their energy usage.

 

RESPONSIBLITIES

Schedule work

Educate customers on their present energy use and how to reduce it

Install utility approved items for the customer

Identify other energy improvements that would benefit the customer

Communicate with the energy conservation office and field staff

Regarding additional other work for the customer

Assist with material ordering and invoice preparation

Assist with inventory control

 

Essential Functions:

Occasionally able to lift up to 40 lbs. or over 40 lbs

Occasional driving, walking, walking on wet, uneven, slippery surfaces

Field of vision – Area that can be seen up and down or to right or left while fixed on a point

Frequent climbing, standing, bending, crawling, reaching above and below shoulder height, bending and twisting, grasping with one or both hands

Working in dusty, cramped environment

Requires standing, climbing ladders, uneven surfaces, exposure to fumes, odors, heat and cold temperatures

Working inside and outside

Climbing stairs

Frequent phone written and oral communication, public contact, working with others, must be able to comprehend and follow instructions, relate to others

Frequent evaluating, analyzing, presenting information

Perform complex or varied tasks

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Associates degree with minimum 2 years home improvement experience or high school – GED diploma with a minimum 5 years home improvement experience

Computer experience with Microsoft Office and internet use

Good working knowledge of home energy use and system interactions

Good working knowledge of heating systems

Excellent English communication skills, written and verbal – bilingual a plus

Must be able to lift and carry a maximum 60 lbs., climb a step ladder, crawl on hands and knees on uneven surfaces, work over your head, have good

Carpentry/handyman’s skills

Pass a physical

Pass CORI check

Valid Massachusetts driver’s license and good driving record

Dependable vehicle
